St. Paul Public Schools introduces K-12 Indian land curriculum The St. Paul Public Schools, as part of a three-year pilot program, has introduced an Indian land tenure curriculum that focuses on Indian land, culture and history. The program is supported by grants received from the Indian Land Tenure Foundation, F.R. Bigelow Foundation, The Saint Paul Foundation and St. Paul Traveler's. The curriculum, developed by the Indian Land Tenure Foundation, is made available to all teachers and school systems free of charge and grants are available to help teachers adapt the material to align with state standards and speak to local history and culture. The material can be used as part of social studies, government, political science and cultural information classes. ILTF encourages teachers and schools to alter these materials to meet local needs. |
